Who makes it
Hinglish Vinglish is made by Keeda Studios, an independent app studio founded by Akhil Madan. Akhil writes the lessons and checks every phrase against what his own family says. A real person reads every support email.

Akhil Madan
Founder, Keeda Studios. Indian, married to someone who is not, and the reason this app exists.
Why it exists
Akhil’s wife wanted to follow what was being said around his family’s dinner table. Not exam Hindi. The fast, mixed, everyday Hindi that nobody slows down for. Every course she tried started with the Devanagari script: weeks of learning to read before one useful sentence. So he built the app she actually needed. Spoken Hindi, in the English letters she already texted in, teaching the phrases his family really used, with a pronunciation scorer so she could practise in private. Her friend asked for it. Then a stranger left a review. It has been on the App Store and Google Play since. The longer version is here.
What the name means
Hinglish is Hindi mixed with English, the way Indian families speak it at home and type it in the group chat. Vinglishis the echo. Hindi speakers double a word with a nonsense twin to mean “and all that”: chai-shai, khana-vana. Hinglish Vinglish means Hinglish, and all that comes with it. It is also a nod to a much-loved Hindi film about learning a language for your family.
What the app does
- Teaches spoken Hindi and Hinglish in English letters. No Devanagari, ever.
- Scores your pronunciation sound by sound when you speak into the mic.
- Has an AI coach, Ellie, who gives specific feedback and runs role-plays.
- Organises everything by situation: Dinner Time, Shaadi Time, Chai Time, In-Laws, Out & About, Travel & Directions, Family & Relationships, Festival Time, Grammar Vibes.
- Is free for 7 days with every chapter open, then one payment. No subscription.
- Runs on iPhone and Android.
The full description, with who it is for and who it is not for, is on the app page.
Who it is for
English speakers in the US, the UK and the wider diaspora: partners of Indian-origin people, heritage learners who understand Hindi but cannot speak it back, and travellers. The guides on the blog are written for the same people.
